Europacable welcomes the European Commission’s announcement on a Submarine Data Cables Security Toolbox and funding for European cables projects.
This is a timely and important step towards improved resilience & protection of submarine critical cables infrastructures, which underpins Europe’s ambition for digital connectivity, economic prosperity and security.
Europacable supports the Commission’s recognition that security and resilience must be addressed in a comprehensive way. Ensuring the security of submarine cable systems goes beyond physical protection measures alone. It also requires integrating redundancy into network design, strengthening maintenance and repair capacities, seeking autonomy from non-trusted suppliers as well as streamlining permitting processes.
