Europacable welcomes Belgian Minister for Energy van der Straeten at Prysmian Pikkala plant

Yesterday, Europacable had the honour to welcome Belgium’s Minister for Energy Tinne von der Straeten and his Excellence Alexis de Crombrugghe, Ambassador of Belgium to Finland, at the Prysmian Group Pikkala Plant in Finland.

Minister van der Straeten concluded: “It is impressive to see how European manufacturers excel at producing state of the art power cables. The bold investments they are undertaking right now are key for the buildout of our grids and the connection of more renewables to decarbonise our societies.”

Belgium has been a leader in deploying underground and subsea cables to enhance its transmission grids for many years. Its central location in Europe will make it a centerpiece of Europe’s future interconnected grid system.

Belgium will assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union as of January 2024, focusing amongst other topics on the buildout of Europe’s renewable energy sources, notably offshore wind.
