“European cable manufacturers are the world’s technology leaders: We have the technologies, the expertise, the people and the capacities to supply cables made in Europe for Europe. With over EUR 4BN of investments already under way, Europe’s leading cable manufacturers are responding to the increased demand for land and submarine cables to ensure that Europe’s decarbonisation and energy security goals become a reality.”
This is the message, Europacable conveyed at “Making the business work – How to orchestrate critical supply chains for a seamless energy transition?” organised by T&D Europe within the framework of Enlit Europe 2024 in Milan on 23 October.
Europacable stressed its Member Company commitment to invest more to supply Europe with the cable systems it desperately needs. To safeguard Europe’s grid technology leadership and industrial competitiveness, and to ensure a sustainable energy transition “made in Europe for Europe”, Europacable urges EU and Member States to account for:
- Confirmed demand visibility beyond 2030;
- Sustainability to be factored in, including in tendering processes and public procurement;
- Fair market conditions; and
- A coherent policy framework fit for cables.
Europacable is committed to closely work with the EU Commission, ENTSO-E, EU DSO Entity, E.DSO, T&D Europe and other relevant actors in the value chain to empower Europe’s sustainable decarbonisation by developing common approaches to speed up grid deployment, reduce redundancies and increase efficiencies.
