Yesterdayโs high-level webinar, co-hosted by ENTSO-E, T&D Europe, EU DSO Entity and Europacable, sent a clear signal from Brussels:
Building a skilled workforce is not just a future priority – is a present call to action!
With over 150 stakeholdersโฏin attendance, the webinar,โฏโElectrifying Europe: Perspectives from the Industry and Grid Operators on Skilled Workforce as a Supply Chain Bottleneckโ, explored the urgent need to mobilise, train and retain talent across Europeโs electricity ecosystem.
Opening the session, Branislav Pilรกt (ENTSO-E) highlighted:
โThe energy transition will stall without the people to deliver it.โ
The European Commission, represented by Ilija Jovanฤeviฤ (EU Energy), echoed this urgency, reinforcing the EU initiative of Union of Skills โ through strategic investment in education, re-skilling and cross-border labour mobility.
Key Takeaways:โฏTackling the workforce challengeโฏmust become a strategic pillarโฏof Europeโs energy and industrial policy, with public-private partnerships and a renewed focus on STEM and vocational pathways.
The discussion also highlighted the need to scale existing initiatives and share best practices across Member States.
Europacable wants to thank Marco Marelli, Valentina Cortesi and Evripidis Karatsivos from Prysmian and NKT for showcasing the best practices from the European cable industry on how to attract, retain and make skilled workers professionally grow in the electricity sector.
Next steps:
ENTSO-E, T&D Europe, EU DSO Entity and Europacable share the outcome at the Copenhagen Infrastructure Forum 2025 and continue knowledge sharing on this key topic for the whole electricity ecosystem.
