At FEDET-NLKi’s event on 20 May 2026, Pascal Place, Chair of the Europacable New CPR Working Group, shared Europacable’s perspective on the implications of the new CPR for the European cable industry.
The message from industry is clear: European cable manufacturers are ready to start the technical work needed to support the integration of cables into the new CPR framework and to continue delivering sustainable, fire-safe and high-quality cables made in Europe for Europe.
Mr Place’s presentation highlighted the main objectives of the new framework: stronger alignment with sustainability goals, greater transparency and digitalisation, improved safety and compliance.
He also reminded the participants that the application of the new CPR to cables is not automatic and will depend on the adoption of updated harmonised standards integrating the new requirements.
